Sensei Bernardo started Shotokan Karate at San Francisco State University in 1981 with Sensei Mayer Parry.
In 1984 he
began training with Sensei Leroy and holds the rank of 6th Dan with Shinkyu Shotokan Karate.
He also hold the ranks of 3rd Dan with ATAMA, 4th Dan with ISOK, and is
also a Senior Instructor with Pine Waves Karate Academy in Fremont.
He has actively competed in regional karate tournaments since 1983 and
has been a finalist or won championships in kata and kumite in every
entered competition.
